Wendy Howard and her girl Jessica, who was being home-schooled last year, decided that was not fair.
Wendy Howard chatted with the Times about her family's effort to open the country's's virtual education law. I can remember last year you and I were talking about how you were not actually sure the way the process works.
Now you have 2 pretty powerful judiciary from outside your district carrying the bill you hope to get passed. We aren't the sole ones that needed to see this fixed. Was it thanks to the story that came out and the petition you were working on? What's the main thing you are finding everyone has in common as far as your wishes for virtual education? There are youngsters that we've met that are Type one diabetes patients, where the blood sugar must be monitored. They need to have the facility to have the general public college option but still confirm their kid is safe. And then to have a student walk up and say, "I was in that class. As families continue to lose jobs, more children are coming from the private school sector. It'd be less costly for them to have a virtual college option than to put them in a bricks and mortar. Let them have the least expensive option so it does not cost as much. What have you and Jessica been doing for the last year of her education? Has it been virtual? No we received a grant this year so that way we could show judiciary how it works. She's using one of the state-approved sellers but on the non-public side. And it's working well for her? She and you and all the family are finding that it's beneficial? It gives us the flexibleness of family time, which we need. But one of the things she has announced to me is, Mom, if we do not stand up for the youngsters who can't, then who will? How does it work apropos meeting other youngsters from school? As far as meeting some of the classmates, she's not physically met the children in her class. When she gets into the general public system she'll be in a position to have the chance to meet

some of the youngsters in her class. And Jessica has declared to the legislators this is her conviction. That was one of the things we had the chance to talk about on the House side two weeks back. We are highly pumped up about Sen Thrasher and Rep Fresen's bills.
